Key Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care in assessing, planning implementing and evaluating care for patients that may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care for outpatients of all ages with diverse medical needs.
- Accurately identify and receive patients, ensuring proper protocols.
- Perform various interventions, including dressing changes, ambulation, assisting with daily living activities, administering medications and vaccines, respiratory treatments, fitting of assistive devices, and more.
- Conduct nursing reassessments, adjusting care plans based on patient responses.
- Offer coverage as needed during staff shortages.
- Educate patients on disease processes, treatment plans, and care procedures.
- Assess patients' biophysical, psychosocial, and cultural needs and create individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, emergency treatments, and resuscitative measures following protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation, ensuring compliance with CMS and TJC standards.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Provide family and patient education to help them understand their care and treatment.
- Maintain electronic health records and adhere to infection control and safety standards.
- Assist in emergency situations, including cardiac arrest, and maintain certifications in CPR, BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Must hold a current, unrestricted state nursing license from any of the 50 United States, District of Columbia, or any US territory and have passed the NCLEX-RN.
- Certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), is required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in nursing medical surgical in-patient specialty and Acute Care Units.
- Ability to perform a wide range of nursing procedures, including venipuncture, IV placement, wound care, and administration of medications and vaccines.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and infection control practices.
- Capable of operating and maintaining medical equipment such as defibrillators, EKG machines, and IV pumps.
- Proficient in English communication (spoken and written) to effectively interact with Native American patients and healthcare staff.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with electronic health records and hospital information systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to relate to Native American patients.
- Strong documentation skills, ensuring compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Ability to handle and resolve issues related to patient care and equipment management.
- Above-average agility and dexterity.
