Pro Bono Partnership provides free business and transactional legal services to nonprofit organizations serving the disadvantaged or enhancing the quality of life in neighborhoods in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Substantially leveraging the impact of its in-house legal staff, the Partnership annually recruits and mobilizes hundreds of attorneys from major corporations and law firms to donate their time and expertise on behalf of its nonprofit clients, enhancing their ability to improve conditions in their communities. Pro Bono Partnership seeks a staff attorney, ideally with employment law experience, for a hybrid work position, working approximately two days per week out of our Parsippany office. This is full-time position at 37.5 hours/week; Pro Bono Partnership is open to considering a part-time role at 30 hours/week.
This individual will work under the supervision of the New Jersey Program Director and serve nonprofits throughout New Jersey. Specific responsibilities include:
- Represent and advise NJ nonprofit organizations on a variety of employment law matters, and other legal matters relevant to the nonprofit sector;
- Support and oversee matters placed with volunteer attorneys;
- Screen potential nonprofit clients for eligibility, and to identify their business legal needs;
- Assist with client outreach activities and help to create strategic alliances in the nonprofit community;
- Assist with volunteer outreach efforts as needed;
- Assist with the creation of client alerts and publications on legal topics relevant to the nonprofit sector;
- Design and teach seminars on legal issues for nonprofits and volunteer attorneys;
- Assist with program administration; and
- Perform other duties as directed by the New Jersey Program Director.

Qualifications for this Position: Candidates should have a minimum of three years' experience, ideally with some experience in employment law, and must have a plenary license to practice law in New Jersey. Enthusiasm, initiative, and commitment to pro bono work and the nonprofit sector are required. Prior experience in nonprofit management, pro bono management, or service for nonprofits or on a nonprofit board are plusses.
Salary and Benefits: $68-72K, depending on experience, for a full-time position. Excellent benefits include medical, dental and voluntary benefits, paid vacation, paid holidays, sick and personal days, and 403(b) plan.
