Location: Various locations across BC Overview: As a Mechanical Engineer, you will focus on the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems in municipal facilities, including HVAC systems, water treatment plants, and other mechanical infrastructure. Responsibilities: Design and implement mechanical systems in new and existing buildings. Develop maintenance plans and protocols for mechanical systems. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient design. Perform system testing and troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulations. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and project management skills. Let us help you find your next career move Requirements Requirements Thorough knowledge of principles and practices related to the trades inspectional field of responsibility. Thorough knowledge of the relevant municipal bylaws and provincial regulations, codes and standards. Considerable knowledge of the departmental policies, procedures and practices related to the work. Ability to understand, interpret and apply the BC Building Code, bylaws, regulations, plans and specifications, to recognize technical requirements and to suggest changes and corrections as required. Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinate staff. Ability to read, understand and interpret plans and specifications; recognize technical requirements and suggest and enforce changes or corrections as required. Ability to recognize faulty construction or hazardous conditions pertaining to structural stability of buildings. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and to enforce regulations and codes with fairness, impartiality and good judgement. Ability to assist in developing policies and procedures and to prepare a variety of reports related to the work.
