Job Description

Rogers Group is currently seeking to fill a DECK HAND position at the TN River Sand & Gravel operation, located in Linden, TN .

The successful candidate for this role will be able to complete a variety of labor and operation duties working on the boat and dredge - maintenance, cleaning, and production tasks. They must have a strong commitment to safety excellence.
  • General boat and deck hand labor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area and equipment.
  • Report equipment problems and identify them to management; help maintain boat, dredge, and equipment.
  • Complete daily inspections and equipment pre-shift report - if applicable.
  • Assist other workers as needed or directed and other duties as assigned by management.
Excellent entry-level position with growth and development opportunities. There is strong potential for long term growth, including opportunities to learn boat handling, and advance towards pursuing a pilots license and boat pilot job role. Development towards other roles in production around the screening and crushing plant on-shore are also possible.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
  • Willingness to work on the water - with full day shifts away from shore.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, some which may include clean-up, production, maintenance, heavy equipment operation, and other duties as assigned.
  • Previous experience welding and cutting preferred but not required.
  • Experience operating various pieces of heavy equipment - bobcat, skid steer, and haul truck a plus.
  • Self-motivated individual - must be able to perform required duties without constant supervision.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to understand basic safety and work instructions.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as necessary.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Plant maintenance experience is a plus.
Experience with aggregate operations is a plus.
