This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
(NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences
Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs)
PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis
PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision
Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs

Duties "Bend is a city in Central Oregon and the county seat of Deschutes County, Oregon, United States.
It is located to the east of the Cascade Range, on the Deschutes River.
The site became known by pioneers as a fordable crossing point of the river, where it was ran through a bend.
An 1870s ranch popularized the name \"Farewell Bend\", with the post office later distinguishing the area as Bend.
It was incorporated as a city in 1905, starting off as a logging town.
In 1910, Mirror Pond was created as a dammed river reservoir to provide energy.
In 1950, the two major logging companies were consolidated due to depleted timber, causing an economic drop.
In later decades, it experienced rapid growth as a center of recreation.
The physician serves as a staff psychiatrist for the outpatient settings in the Mental Health Division (MHD) of the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS).
The psychiatrist's primary duties include but not limited to: Carries a caseload and providing consultation to other mental health and non-mental health clinical programs.
Works in one or more Mental Health programs located in the Portland metropolitan area or in other urban or rural areas in Oregon.
Some mental health programs are co-located in VA primary care clinics.
Telemedicine approaches may be used to provide clinical care.
Supervises residents and fellows, engage in leadership activities, or develop medical services in the inpatient and/or outpatient arenas.
The physician is an integral part of patient care, teaching and research activities, which are shared with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU); as such, the physician must qualify for a faculty appointment with OHSU.
Expected to have strong communication and/or team-building skills.
Utilizes an interdisciplinary team model of patient care to deliver biopsychosocial treatment for Veterans, with MHD physicians functioning as core members of these treatment teams.
