Rapid City Medical Center is seeking an Audiologist to join our West River ENT team This position is responsible for testing, evaluating and prescribing treatment of hearing disorders. Provides a full range of diagnostic, consultative and rehabilitative audiology services to adults and children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Obtains case history and administers diagnostic tests to determine nature, degree and type of hearing problems.
  • Consults with patients on the nature of hearing loss and communicative problems. Develops individualized treatment programs. Conducts follow-up to determine patient progress. Modifies therapy program.
  • Maintain all clinical records and charts as specified by practice management.
  • Plans and directs treatment programs to restore patient hearing.
  • Instructs patients and their families in rehabilitative procedures.
  • Performs hearing aid evaluations and dispenses hearing aids.
  • Makes referrals for further diagnostic evaluation and therapy and/or treatment.
  • Conducts rehabilitation therapy including auditory training.
  • Calibrates and maintains audiology equipment. Helps select audiologic equipment, orders hearing aids, and other supplies.
  • Maintains unit in a clean and orderly manner. Keeps equipment in good working condition.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Audiology required. Doctor of Audiology preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of testing and diagnostic equipment, disorders, and patient prognosis to establish a treatment plan.
  • Knowledge of hearing devices, and programming and troubleshooting software.
SKILLS:
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
ABILITIES:
  • Ability to present explanatory or interpretive information about the treatment program.
  • Ability to motivate patients to participate in treatment program.
  • Ability to apply written guidelines and work practices to make decisions and prepare recommendations regarding problems.
  • Ability to teach patients effective hearing techniques.
  • Ability to write reports and document patient's progress.
  • Ability to operate audiology equipment.


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic

environment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and irregular hours.
