Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut. CHH offers personalized attention from an expert team of caregivers and physicians that utilize advanced technology and clinical partnerships in a convenient, safe and comfortable patient environment. POSITION SUMMARY Plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. Therapists use a variety of modalities, including arts and crafts; drama, music, and dance; sports and games; to help improve or maintain patient’s physical, social, and emotional well-being. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Displays and upholds CHH core values of dignity, compassion, service excellence, community and integrity. Consistently demonstrates caring for patients, for one another, and for the organization they are part of, and contributes to building trust, pride and camaraderie. * Assess patients’ needs through observations, medical records, tests, and discussion with healthcare professionals, patients’ family and patients * Create treatment plans and programs that meet patients’ needs and interests * Plan and implement interventions to prevent harm to a patient * Engage patients in therapeutic activities, such as exercise and games * Help patients learn social skills needed to become or remain independent * Teach patients about ways to cope with stress, anxiety or depression * Record and analyze patient’s progress * Evaluate interventions for effectiveness EDUCATION/CERTFICIATION * Bachelor’s in Recreational Therapy or related field. * CTRS Certification We take great care of careers.
