Wooden Container Assembler

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and assembling wooden containers and packing large and heavy products and fragile apparatus for shipment.

  • Construct non-standard boxes, crates, or skids for domestic or foreign shipments
  • Select materials for packing or protection of product and the method of bracing or blocking to prevent shifting while in transit
  • Check orders against bills of material to ensure that all components are included, report shortages or errors
  • Assemble orders, count, weigh, move or direct movement to the designated floor location using hand trucks, pallet jacks or hoists
  • Record date and quantity, method of shipment and verifies by signing initials
  • Mark order number on crates or packages with sales order number
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of basic crating tasks as needed
  • Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development
  • Ideally 0-1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment or basic carpentry skills
  • Safely use small hand and power tools
  • Experience using table and band saws
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations and accurate measuring
  • Basic computer skills
  • Read and understand verbal instructions in English
  • Ideally read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material

    • Lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistance
    • Lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis floor to waist
    • Carry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis up to 25 feet

    • Push/Pull more than 40 pounds on an occasional basis with assistance
