Department Summary

WE&T strives to train a workforce capable of meeting California’s energy savings goals in the buildings that they design, engineer, build and operate while appropriately meeting occupant’s needs. WE&T’s curriculum provides technical upskilling to help professionals (designers, contractors, engineers, and building operators) understand how to incorporate energy efficiency into their core job functions. WE&T’s team of Energy Centers Technical Specialists designs, develops, delivers, and maintains energy efficiency curriculum on a range of subjects focused on the sectors with the greatest energy saving potential including home performance, HVAC, lighting, daylighting, building envelope, commissioning, building operation, and electrification.
Position Summary
The Senior Home Performance Technical Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert who manages, from creation through delivery, a segment of instructor-led and on-demand training and educational resources focused on improving energy performance in new and existing homes in California. This segment, also referred to as the Home Performance curriculum track, includes but is not limited to building science fundamentals, building envelope strategies (air sealing, insulating, window selection, advanced framing), mechanical systems efficiency (heat pumps, water system efficiency, ventilation and conditioning), inspection/testing/diagnostics (home energy rating, combustion safety), and other topics. Your primary focus will be ensure that the Home Performance curriculum track remains relevant by identifying and delivering high-quality training topics to improve the knowledge and skills of California’s residential workforce, focusing on occupations that have the most potential to pass along energy savings, electrification and decarbonization opportunities to residential occupants, and strategies to improve the prioritization of energy efficiency, electrification and decarbonization in the residential design and construction industry.
Additionally, you will collaborate with partners throughout the state to achieve PG&E's and California's energy efficiency goals through collaboration with other training organizations. Your responsibilities may also include providing high-level consultations for PG&E or statewide programs serving the residential segment. You will also assist other WE&T Curriculum Track Leads with Home Performance-related subject matter expertise on an as-needed basis. You should be dedicated to good design, energy efficiency and practical solutions that meet the residential occupants' energy and comfort needs.
