The Role

As a Sr. Front-End Engineer, you will build data intelligence web applications featuring data management, analysis tools, visualizations, and delivery. Your work will focus on mission sets such as situational awareness, search and rescue activities, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparation. You will create well-designed and consistent user interfaces while delivering scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant software. In addition to your front-end responsibilities, you will also handle backend tasks including developing and maintaining APIs, managing databases, and ensuring the performance and scalability of our applications. Collaboration with backend engineers, product managers, and business development will be essential, but you will also independently identify and advocate for product improvements and innovations.

What You Bring
  • Experience: 710 years in a full-stack engineering or similar role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency: Modern fullstack tools with an in-depth understanding of Python, Webpack, JavaScript/TypeScript, and CSS preprocessors (e.g., Sass, PostCSS) or CSS in JS.
  • WebBased Mapping Libraries: Expertise in libraries like Mapbox, OpenLayers, Leaflet, and related React component libraries.
  • Backend Skills: Strong experience with serverside concepts including microservices, API development, database management, caching, performance, monitoring, CI/CD, and scalability.
  • Development: Experience in developing and maintaining web applications for various customers.
  • Testing and QA: A disciplined approach to testing and code quality assurance.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills and enthusiastic collaboration with a distributed, fully remote team.
