Patient Financial Experience Associate

Financial Assistance/ Insurance Advisory

Full-Time

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

Financial Assistance

  • Evaluate prospective and current patients of HSS in regards to their eligibility for Financial Assistance in compliance with state, federal, and institutional policies governing Financial Assistance and Charity Care
  • Advise applicants on Financial Assistance/ Charity Care application process, hospital policies and procedures
  • Assist patients with resolving problems including serving as their liaison to other Hospital offices
  • Assesses uninsured patients and related resources to maximize reimbursement to the hospital
  • Case reassessment based on patient appeals/revised data to determine any impact on patients eligibility
  • Track and maintain patient records

Insurance Advisory 

  • Field phone calls from current and prospective patients regarding insurance questions, out-of-pockets costs and other related issues
  • Verify benefits via insurance companies’ on-line verification tools and phone
  • Respond to emails as necessary
  • Keep up-to-date on industry benefit plan changes and regulatory changes
  • Provide cost estimates for out-of-network patients
  • Assist manager with benefits investigation for calls originating in administration
Qualifications

Education – Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret and apply laws, policies and procedures. Familiarity with automated financial aid systems and Microsoft Office programs specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Experience

  • At least 5 years in healthcare or Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Customer service experience required; health plan or health care facility preferred
  • Experience with and understanding of health plan benefits
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Detail oriented with a keen ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of hospital operations and patient accounting
  • Detail oriented with a keen ability to multi-task
  • Multilingual is a plus 
Other Requirements #LI-NR1 Pay Range - Minimum USD $29.00/Yr. Pay Range - Maximum USD $33.51/Yr.
