Job Responsibilities:
Works directly and indirectly with other drafters, designers, and operating company personnel to prepare specifications and drawings for the construction and maintenance departments.
Supports engineers and/or designers with design deliverables that support the installation, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage transmission facilities (poles, towers, conductors, etc.). Sound judgment is a must.
Prepares critical detailed schematic drawings to visually communicate to line crews what work will be required on various project types.
As schedule permits, 5% of the time in the field and 95% of time in the office.
Office work consists of communicating via email and phone with teammates, attending departmental meetings, performing calculations, and creating and reviewing plans/drawings. Works forty hours per week with overtime as needed.
  • The Drafter 3 position requires 7-10 years of drafting experience.
  • An associate's degree in drafting and design is preferred.

Job responsibilities include working with 2D and 3D CAD to develop models and/or 2D drawings based on information provided by designers and engineers, revising existing 2D drawings to support plant retrofit projects, supporting plant-site walkdowns to obtain field data and dimensional information for design purposes.

Skillsets and expertise required for this position include experience using CAD software and design tools, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communication, knowledge of engineering design principles and standards, ability to lead a small project, commitment to quality, safety, and design excellence, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
