Aten Design Group is seeking a skilled UX Strategist to join our team. UX Strategists collaborate closely with our clients, their website audiences, and our internal team to translate research from high-level strategies into detailed documentation. They can expertly communicate complex topics into compelling narratives for non-technical stakeholders and tactical direction for team members. They are self-motivated, highly organized, and flexible in their approach based on client needs. This is a fully remote position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and based in one of the following states: Colorado, New Mexico, Iowa, Michigan, Maryland, Kansas, Illinois, Minnesota.

About You

You love working with organizations that make an impact and have a deep fascination with understanding people. You are eager to collaborate to deliver better web-based experiences. You have experience with qualitative and quantitative user research and translating the findings into actionable documentation for creative and technical teams. You are able to facilitate communication around complex topics in order to help clients tell their stories, involve various stakeholders in the planning process, and collaborate with teams to bring that experience to life. You are very organized and can balance priorities and timelines. You believe the user comes first and have experience developing tools such as surveys, interviews, user profiles, and journey maps. You also have experience architecting content using sitemaps, wireframes, and functional prototypes. You have used testing tools to evaluate and ensure your work is meeting user and stakeholder needs.

About the Position

You will be working with some of the most impactful cause-driven organizations to help them use their website to drive their mission and create meaningful connections with their users. You will work with clients, stakeholders, and end users to establish clear goals, understand UX needs, and evaluate website content. Using this knowledge, you will be responsible for defining the vision for the product and working with Aten's developers to structure content in a way that works toward those goals and user needs. You will test and evaluate our work to ensure its success. You will work closely with our project management, design, and engineering teams throughout the full lifecycle of the project to communicate key information and continuously refine the course of a project to meet user and stakeholder priorities. Your participation in client presentations will include facilitating virtual workshops and collaboration, articulating findings, and guiding the project through the creative ideas based on your research.

Well-qualified candidates will have experience in the following:

  • A minimum of 3 years of facilitating, analyzing, and implementing user experience research
  • Distributing and analyzing surveys: SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, Google Forms
  • Facilitating remote collaboration and workshops for diverse stakeholder groups
  • Using facilitation tools such as Figma, Miro, Optimal Workshop, etc
  • Working with stakeholders to write and prioritize user profiles and stories
  • Analyzing and visualizing relationships between information and data in order to structure content effectively around user analytics and survey data
  • Setting and adjusting expectations around the estimated time required to complete strategy and architecture tasks
  • Providing/receiving feedback on strategy and architecture work from other team members and clients
  • Advocating for the role user research, strategy, and architecture play in projects.
  • Designing an information structure that is centered around user needs, aligned with client business goals that are technically feasible and fit within the budget
  • Analyzing, organizing, and prioritizing work while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Working and communicating with people from different disciplines and backgrounds who have varying degrees of technical knowledge
  • Conducting quality assurance (QA) testing to ensure the implementation is in line with the proposed architecture and design
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
Nice to haves:
  • Experience planning the structure of digital content for modern content management systems, like Drupal and WordPress
  • Agency & remote-based company experience
  • Experience with user analytics dashboards, data visualization, and analysis of large-scale datasets
  • Experience working with large-scale, mission-driven organizations and institutions
  • Experience with brand, SEO, and other digital content strategies
  • Experience facilitating equity-driven community engagement outreach and participatory involvement for diverse audiences
