Job Summary:
OMC, a rural hospital dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to underserved communities, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatrician to join our healthcare team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive care for children, from infancy through adolescence, in a rural healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the health and well-being of children and families and eager to make a difference in a close-knit community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive pediatric care to infants, children, and adolescents, including wellness exams, immunizations, physical exams, and screenings.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, such as respiratory infections, asthma, allergies, diabetes, and other childhood diseases.
  • Offer preventive care, including guidance on nutrition, growth and development, and injury prevention.
  • Manage common childhood conditions and offer age-appropriate care tailored to each child's needs.
  • Collaborate with families to provide health education and counseling, including behavioral health, lifestyle, and developmental milestones.
  • Manage and follow-up on pediatric patients with chronic conditions, ensuring the development of long-term treatment plans.
  • Provide care for pediatric emergencies, offering initial assessment and stabilization as needed.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including family medicine physicians, specialists, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the hospital's electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Participate in the hospital's on-call rotation to provide after-hours and weekend coverage as necessary.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Participate in community health outreach programs, providing education and services focused on child health and wellness.
Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics.
  • Valid, unrestricted medical license to practice in Wisconsin.
  • Current BLS and PALS certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong clinical skills and the ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric conditions.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach with the ability to communicate effectively with children and their families.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients and families, including health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in working within a rural healthcare setting with limited resources.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with rural healthcare challenges and resource limitations.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems. EPIC experience a plus.
  • Interest in pediatric health promotion, community education, and outreach.
