JOB TITLE: CYCLE COUNTER/MATERIAL HANDLER

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: DIST. LEAD / COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER

I) BASIC FUNCTION:

The Cycle Counter is responsible for the counting of all materials including Board, Work in Process, and Finished Goods. To keep inventory count records of Board, Work in Process, and Finished Goods filed in his/her office.

II) SCOPE OF POSITION:

The position functions under direction of the Distribution Lead with a strong dotted line to the Cost Accounting Manager. Also has regular contact with Accounting, Roll Tenders, and Key Operators at the presses.

The position requirements include a full understanding of the shipping/receiving procedures and specifications for each order. A basic understanding of the quality required for the finished cartons and safety skills are a definite asset. Full understanding of the operation of a forklift; a forklift certificate/license is a necessity.

III) HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Responsible to work in compliance with the provisions of the company’s health and safety regulations.

  • Use and wear all protective devises/clothing as required, ear plugs, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves

  • Report to the employer/supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective devices

  • Report to the employer/supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard which he/she knows.

  • Report any incident, near miss, or property damage immediately

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment

IV) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cycle Counting /Material Handling - External 80%

  • Cycle Count through Finish Goods once a month, Board twice a month, and Work in Process once per week Perform random blind spot counts and reconcile against BPCS system.

  • Complete any moves and receipts and log all activity of any adjustments or deletes on a manual report and hand in to Accounting each day.

  • Track and log errors by operator and type and hand in to the shipping supervisor weekly.

  • Update "I" drive, inventory counts daily.

  • Organization and filing of all documents is a must.

  • Attend BPCS inventory meetings by weekly.

  • Schedule Board for production or stock to be off loaded. Communicated through a manual incoming Board sheet

  • Count rolls at presses each morning. Hand in press count sheets to Shipping supervisor, Print Cut Manager and Accounting.

  • Attend morning production meeting

  • Understanding of all query screens is a must.

  • Maintain a log sheet of out-bound scrap trains

Material Handling - Internal 10%

  • Remove skids of cartons from finishing department and place in warehouse.

  • Inspect to make sure skids are secure and wrapped properly and fill out/record inventory sheets.

  • Place rolls in line for presses as required to ensure constant operation.

  • Communicate with Distribution Lead to ensure proper placement of inventory and entry to BPCS.

Housekeeping 10%

  • Perform general maintenance of warehouse or notify maintenance department if necessary

  • Change propane or forklift/clamp truck and fill oil as required

  • Sweep and clean warehouse floor

  • Complete daily forklift inspection sheet

  • Re-pile good quality skids outside
