Position Summary The college is seeking a team-oriented professional who, as a part of the Physical Plant Team. The Maintenance Helper will perform a wide variety of tasks including, maintaining the grounds, custodial duties, and maintenance activities for the college physical plant. The person in this position will be providing assistance with basic building interior and exterior improvement activities, building/campus activity set up, painting, and custodial tasks. The Lead Maintenance Technician and Director of Maintenance and Facilities may assign other duties for the successful operation of the campus.

Qualifications Qualifications for this position will include experience related to the scope of work. The ideal candidate will possess some maintenance skills and be able to interact with staff and the public in a professional manner. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive is required. The Maintenance Helper must engage in a collaborative work ethic and a philosophy of higher education that is compatible with the mission of the ICC vision and mission statements.

Position Information The Maintenance Helper is a full-time, 12-month hourly position.

Primary Responsibilities 1.Provide specific building and grounds maintenance tasks as assigned. 2.Assist with basic building interior and exterior improvement projects. 3.Assist with building/campus activity set up for special events and day to day operations. 4.Provide services for the campus buildings as assigned. 5.Provide services as needed in the custodial department. 6.Provide services as needed in grounds keeping. 7.Identify specific building maintenance needs, complete work list priorities. 8.Other responsibilities necessary to the successful operation of the campus. 9.Work collaboratively with all faculty, staff, and external agencies such as contractors and repair services. 10.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Maintenance Technician and Director of Maintenance and Facilities.

Qualifications 1.Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with maintenance functions and equipment. 2.Must display a self-starting, energetic work ethic and self-starting attitude. 3.Demonstrated understanding quality of campus work environment. 4.Ability to work with and without supervision. 5.Time management, computer, and organizational skills. 6.Experience and/or education related to the scope of work and essential job functions. 7.Some general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical is preferred. 8.Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and community. 9.Ability to work well with others and accept supervision. 10. Ability to provide excellent customer service. 11. High level of energy to fulfill a variety of tasks. 12. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladder. 13. Ability to drive, possession of a valid driver’s license and successfully pass MVR check.
