Summary:
Hood Container - Tampa is looking for a Plant Superintendent. The Plant Superintendent will leverage, utilize, and promote our Guiding Principles throughout plant production segments, converting and corrugating to change, implement, and improve production opportunities related to people, processes, and systems.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist and provide EMPOWERING leadership on the operating floor via CARE to strive for compliance in safety, health, environment, and quality. Leads the facility's Waste & Availability initiatives.
  • Review safety procedures to ensure compliance with company standards, ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and that work environments are safe and comfortable for workers.
  • TRUST, SERVE, and EMPOWER production supervisors with new and exciting employee training and development, including, but not limited to, safety, quality, production, problem-solving, technical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Provide oversight with the hiring of new employees to replace those who leave the company.
  • Identify and align operational priorities with the plant's business objectives to ensure production and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest costs, consistent with customer requirements, company plans, and profit objectives.
  • Manage and collaborate with all local stakeholders on production schedules and shifts to oversee smooth daily operations to ensure that production goals are met.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that the right amounts of materials are on hand to meet demand. Maintain relationships with vendors to ensure smooth delivery of materials.
  • Partner with plant leadership to enhance facility performance and metrics - lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and develop innovative practices, methods, and procedures that add value for the facility. Work with engineers to design new products or improve existing products.
  • Create and maintain a cohesive team of leaders and provide coaching and development to the Production Supervisors on the team. Maintain a positive work environment for all employees. Spend time on the floor engaging with employees and overseeing plant operations as appropriate.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs for the plant equipment and machinery.
  • Manage equipment repairs and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of manufacturing or corrugated experience
  • 5 years experience in a leadership role
  • Basic to intermediate computer abilities with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training, conferences, or plant visits.
  • Spanish Bi-lingual is highly preferred but not required.
