You are an experienced and effective organizer excited to work with senior citizens to build power and win changes to provide affordable, accessible and high-quality health care in small cities, towns and rural communities. You will lead the Senior Care Campaign efforts in Wisconsin and help shape regional and national organizing strategy for Addition (a project of Tides Center). This is a great opportunity for a skilled, strategic leader to launch and grow organizing with rural seniors and empower thousands of older people around the country.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Organize local and statewide campaigns in Wisconsin, overseeing all aspects of the Wisconsin Senior Care Campaigns, including strategy, campaign planning, leadership development, membership growth and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with other Senior Care Campaign organizers and the Senior Strategist to wage effective campaigns across the Upper Midwest
  • Contributing to the development and overall strategy of the organization.
  • Navigate and facilitate the resolution of challenges that occur internally or externally.
  • Represent Addition externally for high-level opportunities, including donor meetings and coalition participation.

Education and/or Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of campaigning and community organizing experience, including direct experience building working-class bases across race and political differences. Organizing in small towns and rural communities is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, coupled with sharp attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities effectively; demonstrated focus, resilience, and problem-solving skills to develop solutions under challenging circumstances.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong Communication: Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling messages.
  • Campaigns and Organizing leadership: Proven ability to plan, execute, and adapt comprehensive advocacy campaign strategies in changing contexts; Experience training and developing community members in organizing, power building, research, community advocacy and/or influencing policy; experience collaborating with communications experts and contributing to media strategies; experience with both digital and in-person organizing; familiarity and comfort with systems-based approaches to change.
  • Interpersonal skills: Experience building relationships and engaging effectively with people from various generational, ethnic, racial, socio-economic, educational, and religious backgrounds, as well as people of various physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and generations. Demonstrated self-awareness about how your identities may influence how you show up, interact with, and are perceived by others.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle. This is a Wisconsin-based position and must be able to drive to organize with people in person, in towns, cities and rural communities across Wisconsin on a regular basis.
  • Commitment to meeting people where they are at: Demonstrated ability and commitment to working with people from a variety of ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as varying religious and political backgrounds.

Organizational Relationship

Addition is a fiscally sponsored project of Tides Center. Addition serves as a home for incubating projects to engage the bigger “We” needed to preserve democracy and address the most pressing issues of our time by bringing together experienced, talented, and creative strategists and organizers to be in relationship with segments of the country that have been written off by much of today’s social justice movement. This position will report to a Senior Organizing Strategist.
