Stellar is seeking Pipefitters to plan, lay-out, position and align fabricated parts of mechanical, structural, and miscellaneous assemblies. You will install, test and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards as well as perform other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by supervision. Must be familiar with HVAC systems, plumbing systems and industrial plant utilities utilizing boiler systems, steam piping, compressed air systems, hot and cold water piping systems, and other process systems.

  • Regarding the portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of design plans and specifications
  • Plan, lay-out, install and/or repair all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products in accordance with those plans and specifications
  • Read and understand design documents, including isometric and orthographic drawings. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble, and install all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products
  • Install supports, valves and other control equipment
  • Test installed piping systems and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications
  • Bolt, clamp or tack-weld parts to secure in position for final welding
  • Utilize all pipe fitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and pipe couplings including butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued and fused joints
  • Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures in a safe manner
  • Follow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain, and take any corrective action needed
  • Install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor

Expected Hours of Work
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. primarily during day shift
  • Scheduling requirements may routinely require work seven days a week and some periodic second shift hours
  • Certain portions of projects may require work up to 16 hours per day for several consecutive days
Travel
Anticipated 100% travel for this position. Locations vary throughout the United States.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience as a pipefitter
  • NCCER Certification as Industrial Pipefitter preferred
  • Six months Vocational school training preferred
  • Must pass the prescribed Stellar pipefitter test
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
  • Communication Skills - Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to understand information, ideas, direction and then be able to perform the task or project discussed. Also, to be able to ask questions to insure you understand the information given.
  • Must have a working knowledge of pipefitting techniques and methods
  • Must be able to layout mechanical equipment according to design and plans, and assist with installation
  • Must be able to work with carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, poly/HDPE, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys
  • Must be proficient in the use of bevelers, threaders and other end prep machines.
  • Must be familiar with steam/condensate, HVAC and other process systems
  • Must be able to operate mechanically powered lifting equipment for both personnel and materials as trained
