LPNs (or RNs) who are licensed by the NC Board of Nursing, CPR and BLS certified, and who are experienced in providing the type of nursing care that an individual student requires.

LPNs (or RNs) who are skilled and experienced in meeting the medical needs of an individual student who requires services in order to ensure their well-being and safety during the educational day.

Nursing care might be necessary at various times: Including transport to and from school, while the student is on school premises, during classroom instruction and activities, throughout PE and recess, and on field trips and other school-related events.

Nursing services may encompass the following activities:
Developing a medical care plan, adhering to treatment plans ordered by a physician, and implementing clinical interventions as prescribed, such as ventilator, tracheostomy, and G-tube care. Monitoring and evaluating the student's mental and physical health needs, overseeing the student's overall health by checking vital signs like blood pressure and temperature, addressing the student's immediate medical requirements, assisting with mobility, positioning, and participation as necessary, managing medical devices and technology, administering prescribed medications and treatments, changing dressings, bandages, and other equipment as directed by a physician, and supporting with personal care and classroom activities.
