VMware Engineer

Gridiron IT is seeking a VMware Engineer local to Raleigh, North Carolina with the ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

  • This position will be an active contributor in projects including the rollout of new or re-purposed Hosts, upgrade of vSphere Hosts, review of vROPs performance and reports, support for replication and SRM initiatives, and support of daily operations.

    Additional Task Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with daily Splunk and Infraview (EM7) Monitoring
  • Providing Break Fix Escalation to matrixed Engineers
  • Interaction with Data Center and Network Operations during installation and upgrades
  • Management of DVS and related Network Service Requests
  • Participation in rotated after-hours duties
  • Documentation Preparation (RCAs, SOPs, Work Instructions, etc)
  • Familiarity with Nutanix Hyper-Converged Systems
  • Experience with Dell PowerEdge Servers and DRAC Out of Band Management
  • AWS or Azure Experience - VMware to Cloud migrations, Storage Gateway, Terraform, etc.
  • Additional Preferred qualifications but not required:

  • VCP6.5-DCV/VCP7-DCV Certification
  • Demonstrated analytic problem-solving ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management and organizational aptitude
  • Ability to work independently
  • Significant Experience with an Enterprise Monitoring\icketing System
  • Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications:
  • 5 Years Experience with VMware
  • Expert Knowledge of HA, DRS, and Storage DRS
  • Intermediate Experience with PowerCLI and Scripting
  • Experience with ESXi Hardening (STIG Compliance)
  • Experience with Managing Multiple vCenters (VCSA experience required)
  • Familiarity with vSphere VM replication, SRM, Log Insight (or Splunk), and vROPs
  • VCP6-DCV Certification
