General Summary

The clinical nurse supervisor is responsible for assisting the clinical manager with supervision of the medical assistants, nursing and other clinical staff and for the assistance in management of all aspects of patient care including, but not limited to patient flow within the clinic, triage, maintenance of required medical records, vaccine inventory, medical supplies, exam rooms, educational materials and follow ups. Assist in the clinic, as needed, administering quality nursing care and health education to patients of all ages in accordance with established nursing standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Nurse Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the clinic.
  • Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and support to clinical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve patient care.
  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns raised by staff or patients.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in nursing and healthcare.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required
  • Knowledge of basic principles of health promotion, prevention and motivation
  • Knowledge of protocols in general and an ability to quickly gain specific knowledge of the Center's current operational protocols
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and appropriate abbreviations
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Texas Nursing Practice Act
  • Ability to read and comprehend medical instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to document, with clarity, all information relevant to a patient's needs
  • Ability to effectively present information in small group situations to patients, Center staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with community agency personnel to coordinate services for patients
  • Ability to use a glucometer and interpret the results
  • Ability to use office equipment including but not limited to computers, fax machines, telephones and copiers
  • Ability to prioritize and allocate resources
Preferred
  • Spanish speaking and writing skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current unrestricted license from the Texas Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners to practice as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification
  • Experience in supervision of medical nursing staff
  • Four (4) years of practice experience giving direct patient care, physician practice experience preferred.
