API Software Engineer

GridIron IT is seeking multiple API Software Engineers with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • As part of an Agile Team, designs, develops, and maintains software applications using a tailored SAFe Agile DevOpsSec Scrum process.
  • Uses best practices and patterns to perform design and development using object-oriented programming languages.
  • Performs automated testing and unit testing while performing automated deployments of software modules using a Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools pipeline.
  • Participate in daily scrums, performing software requirements analysis, risk identification, risk mitigation, and collaboration across Agile teams.
  • Develop and integrate custom developed software solutions to leverage automated deployment technologies.
  • Participate in software programming initiatives to support innovation and enhancement.
  • Participate in the development of documentation.
  • Use industry leading tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Unix bash scripting, Java, JavaScript, Git and HTML.
  • Develop and execute project plans. Leverage Atlassian tool suite like JIRA and Confluence to track activities.
  • Create innovative solutions to meet the technical needs of customers.
  • May supervise computer programmers.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required and/or equivalent required.
  • 9+ years of experience performing systems software development.
  • Deep understanding of API design concepts and standards (REST, SOAP, etc.).
  • Proficient with common Agile practices, service-orientated environments, and development practices.
  • In-depth use and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Java.
  • In-depth experience in the software development lifecycle, with experience delivering within DevOps toolsets/practices.
  • Direct experience utilizing software testing performance tools, such as Junit. Experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Bash.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment and tempo.
  • Experience with development in Cloud Platforms (e.g. AWS).
  • Experience with development leveraging cloud data services (ex: S3, RDS, EFS).
  • Must currently possess a Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.

DoD/IC Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Science, or related technical degree
  • Experience with API protocols, definitions, and tools that permit the interaction and communication between software components.
  • Strong experience using SQL database for design, querying, and optimization.
  • Experience working in Unix based environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal.
  • Certified Scrum Professional or equivalent is highly desired.
