Location: Plano TX (day one onsite, 5 days onsite in a week)
Job Summary:
The Level 2 MongoDB Administrator is a senior-level position responsible for production support, and management of databases. This role involves overseeing the database infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The Level 2 DBA provides technical expertise, leads database projects, and collaborates with other IT teams to deliver robust and scalable database services.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Management:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of MogoDB architecture, installation, and administration.
- Manage MogoDB, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Database High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and test disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and business continuity.
- Database Security:
- Enforce security measures, access controls, and encryption to protect sensitive data.
- Perform periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Database Performance Tuning:
- Identify and resolve complex performance bottlenecks, slow queries, and resource contention issues in MongoDB.
- Database Backup and Recovery:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for MongoDb
- Perform regular backups and test recovery procedures to ensure data recoverability.
- Database Monitoring and Alerts:
- Set up proactive monitoring and alerting for database health and performance issues.
- Respond to alerts and incidents promptly to minimize service disruptions.
Database Patching and Upgrades:
Database Automation and Scripting:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline routine database management tasks.
- Database Documentation:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues.
- Collaborate with Level 1 and Level 2 support and other teams to address escalated incidents.
- Database Project Management:
- Lead database-related projects, such as database migrations, consolidations, and performance enhancements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Several years of proven experience as a Level Mongo Database Administrator.
- In-depth understanding of MongoDb architecture, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Strong proficiency in MongoDb architecture, installation, configuration, and administration.
- Familiarity with database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
- Experience with database clustering and load balancing technologies is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities to guide junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
