Your Role

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of components from our suppliers. As part of the Quality team, you will report to the Quality Manager and work closely with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing groups. This is a hybrid position located in Voorheesville, NY.
As a Supplier Quality Engineer:
- You will craft and implement strategies for supplier management that align with Atlas Copco Comptec's global policies and industry best practices, ensuring top-notch quality.
- You will revamp and enhance supplier qualification methods to guarantee a steady supply of quality products. This includes developing or modifying the Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM), conducting Qualification Audits, and managing First Article or PPAP programs.
- You will collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, and quality control teams to swiftly resolve critical supplier quality issues, ensuring seamless operations.
- You will partner with suppliers to elevate product and process quality through data analysis and risk assessment, driving continuous improvement.
- You will analyze nonconformance reports to identify high-risk, recurring, or systemic issues, and manage the SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) process with the support of the ACC Quality Control Team.
- You will lead root cause analysis studies and implement effective corrective actions to prevent future issues.
- You will gain a deep understanding of supplier processes and validation to ensure they meet specifications and produce high-quality components.
- You will compile and report on supplier quality performance statistics, using this data to drive internal and external actions for improvement.
- You will establish proactive communication channels with suppliers to gather feedback that can reduce costs and enhance quality.
- You will interface with internal departments to ensure critical quality requirements are clearly understood and documented, setting vendors up for success.
To succeed, you will need
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering or engineering technology discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with quality tools and metrics.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (30%-50%).
