Huntsville, United States Blue-Halo.org Full time
Summary

The Systems simulation, Software and Integration Directorate (S3I) Government Systems Integration Laboratory (G-SIL) is responsible for supporting the acquisition, test and evaluation of components and technologies developed for the Program Executive Office (PEO) Missiles and Space Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS). The G-SIL is a government owned Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) integration and test facility staffed by a team of Army civilians and contractors from multiple companies.

The Software Analyst will work with a diverse team of HW, SW, and Operational testers to plan, execute, and analyze real-time test results from test events and experiments involving newly developed/evolving IBCS major end items (MEIs), adapted versions of existing weapons and sensors, internal interfaces within the Army IAMD system of systems, and external interfaces with other Army and Joint systems in both live and virtual test environments.

Ideally this Software Analyst will have a basic understanding of the Army Air and Missile Defense systems and doctrine. Oral, written, and presentation communication skills are essential.

Education and Experience

  • A four-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, or Math. (Operational military experience in Air and Missile Defense could be considered in lieu of a degree.)
  • 5-10 years of overall engineering experience in software analysis and/or simulation verification.
  • Experience with Patriot, THAAD, Sentinel, IBCS, Aegis, LTAMDS, IFPC and L16 preferred.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Office products such as PPT, Excel, and Word and be capable of briefing Senior leadership as needed.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and MatLab would be a bonus.
Primary Duties
  • Evaluate the functional capabilities of the Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense Family of Systems with respect to System Specifications and Interface Control Documentation.
  • Apply well developed systems engineering skills and methodology throughout the life-cycle of a real-time HWIL Government test lab (G-SIL) and work with, and assist, our air missile defense customer in achieving their test goals.
  • Apply engineering/scientific method to the definition, design, conduct, and reporting of tests and investigations of distributed composite track management software.
  • Plan the assessment and verification of Army Air and Missile Defense systems and systems-of-systems requirements.
  • Assist in the definition of test cases and provide technical direction in the preparation of appropriate test stimulus to realize those test cases.
  • Recommend specific instrumentation, processing, communication, and data collection requirements for the test environment, satisfy those requirements, and verify implementations.
  • Identify key parameters for assessing command and control parameters.
  • Support the verification and validation of all tools used for stimulus preparation, run-time instrumentation, post processing of data logs, and analysis. Identify and specify new tools as needs arise.
  • Perform independent analysis of the test data, review analysis results from other members of the team, reconcile discrepancies, and organize results for reporting.
Work Schedule and Location
  • Work will primarily be performed at the S3I Directorate during the normal M-F work week between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
  • Some flexibility in work schedule can be accommodated; some after-hours and weekend work might be required. Occasional travel might be required.
Security Clearance
  • This position requires the successful candidate to have and maintain an active DoD security clearance at the SECRET level. The ideal candidate will currently possess this security clearance. However, even if you do not currently possess a security clearance, but you do meet the job requirements, you should still apply.
  • For candidates that don’t currently possess an active DoD security clearance, to start working in this role, you would have to initially secure an interim Secret security clearance. You must then obtain & maintain a fully adjudicated Secret clearance (or higher) to continue in this role.
Work Environment
  • G-SIL work is performed primarily in an office or lab environment with adequate environmental (heating/cooling) control.
  • The noise level in the lab work environment will be moderate due to noises associated with computer equipment, equipment racks, and environmental control systems.
  • For some tests, tactical equipment will be operated outdoors in field conditions to include weather extremes and on tactical generator power.
