The Logistics Engineer provides support to users by maintaining mission systems and applications within the enterprise architecture. The responsibilities may also include user-centric support including user hardware and software delivery, installation, and break-fix support. Workclosely with network and cybersecurity engineers to ensure assets are prepared for imaging and deployment. This individual will coordinate for the procurement, receipt and accountability of mission equipment included the preparation, shipment and eventual disposition of these end items.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support for new (future) equipment and for current (old) equipment –(Approximately 400x computers and associated equipment)
  • Assist in the creation and application of software baseline using DoD/AF approved applications to new equipment.
  • Assist in the test, evaluation, and preparation of hardware, software, and related technology for security accreditation and compliance.
  • Prepare reports detailing the results of the test and evaluation including specific recommendations.
  • Provide Logistician capability for maintenance of the lifecycle of all hardware ongoing management of all users, machine service accounts, and number of licenses, to include ensuring each application and/or tools have a current Certificate to Field (CTF) and Authority to Operate (ATO)
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain Windows operating systems, to include System (OS), and application software patches and service packs on servers and laptops.
  • Ability to use asset management software, downloadable software updates and keep accurate records of where resources are fielded.
  • Knowledge and ability to ship hardware equipment and receive shipments, maintain manufacture data for user and locational inventory.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to the security configuration of member mission systems by electronic and manual review methods.
  • Ensure security accreditation, authorization, and continual compliance requirements are met, as directed by the Government.
Required qualifications:
  • DoDD 8570.01-M IAT II certification required -Security + Certification
  • Associate degree and 2 years’ experience, or 4 years of experience.
  • General experience includes background in, information systems development, network operations, application performance in a client/server environment, or related fields.
  • Specialized experience includes the management of help desks in a multi-user environment, a comprehensive understanding of PC operating systems, a working knowledge of network and electronic mail operations and prior supervision of help desk employees.
  • Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles to understand what could go wrong with shipment, and delivery of equipment.
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) principles to enhance lifecycle management activities across the IT programs and supporting infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of office automation tools and complex databases used to plan and execute CM plans, projects, and documentation.
  • Skill developing and implementing contingency plans for real-world and exercises involving logistical challenges.
  • Skill developing and implementing CM plans to establish, communicate, and monitor consistent CM process and documentation. Maintains CM continuity documentation in a knowledge management library or database.
  • Ability to configure, organize, and ship numerous IT systems or components to globally dispersed customers at short notice, usually without direct Government supervision.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate communications, both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to create status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing logistics information and trends.
