About the Team

FIS provides banks with cutting-edge solutions to process over $40 trillion annually. Our offerings include fraud detection, identity verification, onboarding, and case management systems. The Y team leverages data science and machine learning to combat global fraud, protecting individuals, businesses, and financial institutions from threats ranging from individuals to multinational crime rings. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will contribute directly to building efficient data pipelines, state-of-the-art machine learning systems, observability suites and analytical insights for product quality. You'll collaborate across functions-including engineering, analytics, product, design, and operations-to build solutions that stay ahead in a fast-evolving fraud prevention landscape.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to be a part of data-driven decision-making across the organization as well as help design a large scale, state-of-the-art machine learning pipeline. You'll research, design, and implement data science solutions with a team of data scientists to address complex business challenges, contributing to the development of innovative fraud detection systems.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to all data science aspects of products, ranging from data streams to machine learning, from observability to product strategy
  • Help build state-of-the-art, robust, efficient, and observable statistical and machine learning models
  • Develop large-scale data pipelines using off-the-shelf data tools, optimizing for quality and performance
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities, providing actionable insights
  • Clearly communicate findings and insights to data scientists and other cross-functional stakeholders
Requirements
  • Masters in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Economics, Data Science, Engineering, or a similar quantitative field
  • 4+ years of experience in a data science role or similar
  • Proven experience applying machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to a range of real-world problems
  • Good programming skills in Python, SQL, with familiarity in coding concepts and version control via git
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, thriving in fast-paced environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Economics, Data Science, Engineering, or a similar quantitative field
  • 6+ years of experience in a data science role or similar
  • Familiarity with neural network (Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch) frameworks
  • Published state-of-the-art research in recognized journals and conference talks
  • Familiarity with payment networks, banking systems, and fintech software
  • Familiarity with feature stores, machine learning model governance, model monitoring, A/B testing, and champion/challenger setups
  • Familiarity with real-time data processing (Kafka, Flink, Azure Stream, Spark), and cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $115,590.00 - $194,180.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
