NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Regional Accreditation Evaluator (Evaluator) will provide high quality personalized and customized service to institutions in the Cognia network, particularly in relation to accreditation evaluation. Evaluators serve as an extension of the local Cognia office to deliver a variety of services related to accreditation. Evaluators may be requested to provide service anywhere Cognia needs their expertise; however, priority for assignments will be given to service in the state or territory where the evaluator resides.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Conduct Cognia Accreditation Engagement, Monitoring, Candidacy, and other types of reviews.
  • Complete a thorough program of instruction (multiple courses) that provides all the information necessary to conduct all types of Cognia reviews.
  • Attend ongoing professional in-service training to improve and refine evaluation skills.
  • Provide technical assistance and accreditation training to institutions.
  • Provide assistance, as needed, to institutions for their six-year accreditation cycles.
  • Provide technical assistance concerning Cognia's online and offline accreditation tools.
  • Provide high-quality instruction concerning Cognia accreditation processes to institutions as those institutions prepare for their upcoming reviews.
  • Assist institutions (post review) in the interpretation of the findings and provide guidance on improvement planning and strategies that will assist the institution in achieving improvement goals.
  • Represent Cognia in the professional community.
  • Provide information and assistance concerning Cognia's accreditation and improvement services, such as presentations at meetings and conferences, as necessary.
  • Represent Cognia by attending school and school system meetings for activities such as providing feedback and presenting awards or recognitions as required.
  • Assist the region and the state offices in conducting their service plans.
  • May be responsible for reviewing reports and/or acting in the capacity of a coach to other reviewers.
  • Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities that may, from time to time, include related or unrelated tasks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • BS in Education or equivalent required; M.Ed. or Ph.D. in educational leadership area preferred
  • A minimum of five years PK-12 teaching experience required
  • Three or more years in a leadership capacity in a PK-12 school or district preferred
  • Experience as an educational leader at the building or central office level desired
  • Evaluators are expected to complete required initial and ongoing training on reviews and interpretations
  • Evaluators are expected to maintain a high-level of knowledge about the current operations of Cognia by participating in on-going professional development related to Cognia's work
  • Certification for eleot and/or erel preferred
  • Experience with Cognia tools and processes preferred

Competencies:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Substantial experience in the field of education as a school or district leader
  • Knowledge of Cognia processes and protocols

Anticipated Travel (may include local, national, and/or international travel):

  • Extensive travel (>40%)
  • Travel to Annual All Staff Company Meeting required
