SUMMARY: The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for identifying, establishing and cultivating cooperative relationships with community-based programs, organizations, and community leaders, with a special focus on historically underbanked and underserved communities to strategically execute outreach initiatives. The Specialist will develop public education, resources, and awareness campaigns in conjunction with community organizations and leaders to support Credit Union initiatives and priorities, as well as participate in community events and meetings. They will provide opportunities for diverse voices to shape the Department's activities. Regular travel within a specified geographic region in California required, with potential for occasional travel to outside regions.

SALARY RANGE: $22.57 To $33.86 Per Hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for working with the VP of Community Relations and Marketing Officer to develop and execute the credit union's community outreach plan, to include assisting in developing community outreach and financial literacy calendar, sponsorship program and social media content.
2. Coordinates and attends all events and supports the development, production and distribution of professional marketing materials and financial literacy curriculum.
3. Portray the brand consistently across multiple marketing channels/networks, including social media.
4. Possess a high degree of initiative and research, seek out and establish partnership opportunities to reach the underbanked and underserved communities in Kern County.
5. Facilitate the preparation and translation of membership communications, collateral, and digital assets such as brochures, website, slide decks, and social media into Spanish.
6. Serve as Spanish-speaking spokesperson for Credit Union for media, social media, financial literacy and other events.
7. Maintain awareness of all laws and regulations, developments and trends within the credit union industry that may affect new products, marketing and advertising, and develop, evaluate and apply those policies, procedures and disclosures for the credit union. Work with Compliance department to ensure all programs are in legal compliance with marketing requirements.
8. Create and maintain budget and inventory for event giveaways and materials.
9. Collaborate with other departments to manage company reputation, coordinate promotions, and increase reach.
10. Assist with new CRM, video and analytics technology implementation and participate in trainings as necessary.
11. Complete annual mandatory BSA training.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
12. Coordinate with staff marketing focus groups to support and develop ongoing special projects.
13. Research and make recommendations for new products and/or services and requests modifications or improvements to existing products and/or services and work within marketing budget guidelines.
14. Perform any special project or duties as assigned by President/CEO or management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Candidate must be fluent in Spanish (oral/written) have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with social media and content creation to effectively promote the credit union while protecting its image and protecting the organization from liability. Prefer general knowledge of community stakeholders and ability to build relationships with diverse local leaders. Requires the ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public and the ability to work independently. Must possess strong writing skills, verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking skills and excellent organizational skills. The ability to translate, proofread and edit materials is necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires high school education or G.E.D. equivalency certificate. In addition to education, one year of experience in marketing or a similar field is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, hear and use standard office equipment such as computer/keyboard and phone. This position is very active and requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching. The employee must periodically lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
