About the position

The MRI Technologist will conduct magnetic resonance imaging scans on enrolled research participants. S/he will enter and monitor participant data, transfer images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency, and develop film in automatic processor.

This is an on-site position assigned to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. A thorough government background check will be required.

**Must be a US Citizen to gain clearance**

About The Project

This research takes a deep dive into the underlying physiology of warfighters with poor sleep quality or insomnia, with a focus on quantifying the sympathetic or "fight or flight" system.

Salary Range

$ 29 - 42/hour. Pay is determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate's related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Principal Investigator with the following:
  • Monitors participant data
  • Collection of data and data entry
  • Transfers images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency
  • Develops film in automatic processor
  • Adheres to OSHA and infection control procedures
  • Demonstrates proficiency in operating a magnetic resonance scanner and obtaining images
  • Documents all correspondence and communication pertinent to the research
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with PI, other site personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation and the study sponsor
Qualifications
  • Proficiency with MRI process
  • Health care background and/or degree preferred
  • Accredited training in a radiology program
  • Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) certification
  • Completion of an accredited radiology program
  • Knowledge of military system preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment
  • Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication
  • Knowledge of imaging techniques to perform routine tests
  • Knowledge of imaging equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation
  • Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail, and database systems.
