Statement of Purpose:
Assists in the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in donning gown and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile field and issuing instruments to surgeons. The Surgical Technologist Level II (STII) is a member of the surgical team responsible for providing intra-operative care to the surgical patient. This job requires working in a fast paced environment, with a focus on patient progression goals, quality initiatives and achieving the highest level of patient satisfaction. They will precept other staff and students. The STII will participate in committees as needed. The STII will work with the service leader providing resources in the area of clinical expertise updating preferences, pick lists, and kit list. The STII functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse/Circulating Nurse.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma and/or equivalent- Graduate of Accredited School of Surgical Technology
Certification / License: Current CPR skills - Surg Tech Certification required (will consider if certification obtained within 6 mts)- AST Membership
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience as a Surg Tech required - Must work a minimum of 24 hours
