Machine Builder

The Machine Builder is responsible for the assembly of machines, equipment and their subassemblies following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. The Machine Builder will operate as a member of the Manufacturing division, reporting directly to the Production Supervisor.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: Be a Critical partner. Have a voice. Lead.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes, using drill press or portable drill per print specification.
  • Aligns components and bolts, screws, or rivets them together using hand tools or portable powered tools.
  • Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings.
  • Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments.
  • Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files or portable grinders, to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
  • Bend and install pipe for hydraulic systems.
  • May install wiring and electrical components to specifications.
  • Align and mesh gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears.
  • Test or assist in testing operation of completed product.
  • Complete accurate documentation as required.
  • Keep work area neat and organized.
  • Operate forklift in a safe manner.
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  • Leverage the core values and culture to drive accountability and engagement.
  • Represent high level of ethical, intellectual, professional, and personal values that complement the team.
  • Promote cooperation within the team and between teams.
  • Additional responsibilities and projects as may be assigned relevant to the position.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Energy. Drive. Focus.
  • High school diploma or equivalency, required.
  • Technical certification from accredited technical school, preferred
  • Minimum one year of related machine building experience.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, uses, repairs and maintenance required.
  • Knowledge of raw materials being used is desired.
  • Experience with SAP in an operation-distribution/manufacturing functionality, highly preferred.
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with MS Project, SolidWorks, a plus
  • Strong organization, time management, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to troubleshoot problems quickly and thoroughly, make decisions under pressure, and maintain the ability to be tactful in all situations.
  • Exhibit high attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, bill of materials, and schematics.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related information.
  • Exhibit good work habits and willingness to work extended hours to complete a job when required to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate adaptability to a challenging and developing environment, and willingness to take on new responsibilities as the business evolves.
