The Certified Surgical Technologist II is responsible for assisting and collaborating with the circulating nurse in the preparation of surgical procedures, passing instruments and performing retraction for the surgeon at the sterile field as directed, and anticipating the needs of surgical team during the procedure. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school of surgical technology or have equivalent experience, and hold certification as a surgical technologist in Massachusetts. BCLS certification is required, and the successful candidate will meet all requirements to practice as a surgical technologist in Massachusetts. This full-time position includes a rotation to on-call for specified nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Provide all necessary instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for the surgical procedure
  • Collaborate with the Circulating nurse to ensure accuracy of counts and maintain integrity of the sterile field
  • Maintain inventory of supplies in operating rooms and storerooms
  • Assist in transport of patients and in movement or manipulation of equipment as required
  • Communicate effectively, act as a preceptor to students and newly hired staff, and actively participate in department projects
  • Perform the essential components of the WHO - Checklist, hand hygiene, and other department safety and quality initiatives, and function independently in seven service lines
