Looking for a Histology Technician with prior experience. There is a level I, II, and III position avaiable based on experience level. This position is working for a pre-clinical company where there will be lab animals.
- Prepare high-quality tissue samples for histopathological evaluation.
- Identify tissue samples and ensure proper embedding orientation.
- Process both paraffin and frozen tissue samples.
- Apply microtomy techniques for both routine paraffin and frozen tissue samples.
- Prepare reagents and perform routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, as well as specialized histochemical staining.
- Execute manual and automated immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures.
- Conduct quality control checks on all prepared microscope slides.
- Operate and maintain equipment used in tissue sample preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Document the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
- Perform paraffin tissue processing and embedding.
- Ensure proper tissue sample orientation during paraffin embedding.
- Use microtomy techniques to prepare routine paraffin-embedded microscope slides in line with standard procedures or study protocols.
- Carry out routine H&E staining and cover slipping of microscope slides.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and take corrective actions to minimize disruptions.
- Analyze raw data and resolve deviations from standard operating procedures (SOP) or protocol requirements.
- Handle hazardous chemical disposal, including generating lab packs and updating chemical records.
- Manage the ordering of supplies and maintain inventory records.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or an Associate's degree (AA) or high school diploma/GED with experience
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience, with eligibility for HT (ASCP) certification within one year of employment.
- Experience with tissue organ/sample identification, microtomy, and routine H&E staining is preferred.
- Ability to handle and dispose of biological and chemical substances in compliance with safety protocols.
- M-F 6 to 10 am start time with flexibility
