Network Analyst
The primary duty of the Network Analyst is application of system analyst techniques and procedures including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional applications. To design, develop, document, analyze, create, test, and modify network and computer systems for CTC. Oversee network outages and take appropriate measures to ensure the outage does not repeat. Maintains and troubleshoots voice services in Class V and wholesale switching. Monitors Class V and wholesale switching alarm reporting and responds accordingly. Monitors the quality of service, EAS, special circuits and other subscriber carrier services.

Job Family:
This position has four distinct levels within the family of positions. These levels include Lead Network Analyst, Network Analyst III, Network Analyst II, Network Analyst I. All levels of this job family will be cross-trained and work as a team to service the responsibilities placed on the group in its entirety.
Network Analyst Lead: This position will perform at the highest level of the job family and will oversee the Network Analyst III, II and I day-to-day functions. The Network Analyst III, II and I will report to the Network Analyst Lead on any network design or implementation discussions; all network development and all network maintenance's that need to be completed or scheduled. New or ongoing projects will be assigned to Network Analyst III, II and I by the Network Analyst Lead. The Network Analyst Lead will maintain a high level of communication on a daily basis and will meet with the Network Manager weekly to discuss all network design, implementation, maintenance's and any new or ongoing projects for approval before implementation. The Network Analyst Lead will perform Network Analyst III functions in addition to the Lead job requirements.
Network Analyst III: This position serves as an experienced Network Analyst. The Network Analyst III position will focus on the design and deployment of the overall network infrastructure and services.
Network Analyst II: This position will be a liaison between design/project activity and daily support needed to maintain the network and customer issues. The responsibility to oversee the daily support and make sure that all items are addressed and resolved also falls on this position.
Network Analyst I: This position will support the day-to-day escalation requests to the department and provide feedback into the design and provisioning process.
Supervision Received:
The Network Analyst Lead works under the direction of the Network Manager and/or Senior Management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of computer operating systems.
- Knowledge of current Microsoft Windows versions.
- Linux/Unix knowledge would be beneficial, but not required.
- Desired skills and knowledge of telecom network transport and access systems.
- Knowledge of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model
- Knowledge of ISP network delivering voice, data, and video services.
- Knowledge of best practices for security, maintenance, backups, and all proactive aspects of network maintenance.

- Knowledge of telecommunications industry.
- Knowledge of SONET, Ethernet, and IP transport systems
- Knowledge of digital switching and Soft Switch technologies. TCP/IP Protocols, routing, and testing methods.
- Considerable knowledge of English, spelling, arithmetic and vocabulary.
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Considerable ability to communicate well with a positive and friendly manner, both orally and in writing.
- Skills in prioritizing and completing multiple projects. The ability to be well organized and accept responsibility for and work under occasional stressful situations with frequent interruptions.
- Considerable skill in communicating expectations with requests and projects and following through to completion.
- Skill in analytical thinking for identifying problems and resolutions.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to communicate with coworkers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to read an interpret documents such as schematics, blueprints and circuit diagrams.
- Considerable ability to maintain efficient workflow.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and the ability to maintain memory for and attention to details.

Network Analyst I - A.A. or technical certificate in computer science or equivalent. Three or more years of experience and/or education.
Network Analyst II - A.A or technical certificate in computer science or related field, or the equivalent in experience. Five or more years of experience. CCNA certification strongly desired for this position.
Network Analyst III - Bachelor's Degree in computer or information science field, or the equivalent in experience. Seven or more years of experience. Requires advanced knowledge of network protocols and advanced knowledge of computer and network hardware and software. CCNA certification required for this position.
Network Analyst Lead - Bachelor's Degree in computer or information science field, or the equivalent in experience. Ten or more years of experience. Must have a thorough knowledge of telecommunication and data networking industry. CCNA certification required for this position.
Each position must have a working knowledge of network design and implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of network.
Telecommunications experience is desired but not required.
Valid Minnesota drivers' license and good driving record.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to see; hear; talk; grasp; feel and finger equipment to complete assigned job tasks. This position requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee is regularly required to be able to lift, climb, stoop, kneel, pull and push. The employee frequently must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Travel:
Some travel may be required for the purpose of meetings and trainings. Overnight travel may be required if traveling outside of CTC's existing service area.
Supportive Relationships:
Internal - All employees should work together toward a common goal of continued progress of the company. The employees shall attempt to maintain pleasant working relationships with those in their own and other departments.
External - Employees shall remember that quality service is the only reason that the company is in existence. To the individual customer, that employee is CTC.
Work Environment:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, light traffic); ability to work in a confined area (i.e. office cubicle); and ability to sit a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
This factor measures the surroundings and physical conditions under which a job must be done and the extent to which those conditions make the job disagreeable. Consider the presence and relative amount of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, wetness, etc.
