School Based Day Treatment Group Therapist (Butler County)

Salary: $50,000 onwards

Definition and Primary Objective:

Best Point is looking for an Individual that delivers an array of services which meet the individualized mental health needs of the children and families served. Performs a variety of functions in multiple settings, displaying an understanding of family dynamics, cultural preferences, and community environments. Delivers services to client and/or any other individual who will assist in the client’s mental health treatment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct Client Service

  • Provides a comprehensive and complete diagnostic assessment of each child referred for mental health service. Evaluates for appropriate level of care.
  • Conducts individual, group, and family therapy in school and community settings with a primary focus on facilitating day treatment groups.
  • Develops treatment plans, formulates, and facilitates intervention objectives to meet child’s and family’s needs.
  • Provides crisis management and stabilization as needed.
  • Completes crisis counseling, CPST, and support as needed to ensure client mental health needs are met.
Administration
  • Completes all required documentation including but not limited to service tickets, progress notes, service plans, discharge summaries, and other reports as required.
Internal and External Collaboration
  • Leads daily debrief sessions with day treatment and school staff.
  • Leads monthly team meetings with day treatment team, school staff, family caregivers and any other team partners to review progress and plan toward transition/discharge.
  • Consults and collaborates with internal as well as external resources on behalf of the client, family and agency.
  • Attends agency and departmental meetings. Serves on agency wide committees.
Quality Assurance and Effectiveness
  • Trained in Teaching Family Model and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
  • Develops day treatment curriculum and daily treatment interventions.
  • Collects assessment data for use in treatment planning and shares data with treatment team.
  • Maintain compliance with professional licensure.
  • Engages in activities for professional development.
Fiscal Responsibility
  • Tracks daily attendance through the SBDT progress tracker.
  • Reviews any concerns about enrollment and/or attendance with team and direct supervisor.


Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience and Other Skill Requirements:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field with a licensure in Social work or Counseling. Master’s and/or independent license preferred. Recommended 3 years of post-graduate experience or related experience. Must possess minimum technical skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment:

Exposed to a combination of office, school and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive.

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of sustained exertion and be able to participate in the physical restraint techniques and exercises required to ensure safety of clients at all times.
