Overview Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the PICU provides clinical leadership and expertise for population-based nursing care to integrate evidence based care, advance clinical practice, achieve optimal nurse-sensitive patient outcomes and facilitate transitions of care. The CNS provides leadership and mentoring to support the interprofessional team in the evaluation and implementation of evidence-based therapies and research. The CNS will function independently as needed in all aspects of work area clinical operations on a 24-hour basis. The CNS will collaborate with other work area leaders in the supervision of unit staff and implementation of projects to achieve the goals and objectives of the work area. The PICU is 36-bed unit across two locations in the hospital. The PICU provides family-centered, multidisciplinary care for critically ill patients ranging from infancy through young adulthood. We utilize advanced therapies and equipment to care for patients with rare diseases, post-liver and kidney transplants, Level 1 traumas, and complex medical/surgical cases. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 5+ years of recent PICU experience required. Previous supervisory and CNS experience preferred minimum of 1 year. Education/Licensure/Certification: 5+ years of recent PICU specialty experience required. Previous supervisory and CNS experience preferred. CA RN license, CNS certification is required. Pay Scale Information USD $130,000.00 - USD $233,875.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
