Job Description:
MEI has a job opportunity for a Commissioning Project Manager to oversee and manage the commissioning process for mission-critical data center projects, acting as a key liaison between the commissioning team, clients, vendors, and contractors. This role will involve both strategic oversight and coordination of commissioning activities, ensuring that projects meet client expectations and industry standards. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the commissioning process are effectively communicated and executed according to client expectations and industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in commissioning power generation, distribution systems, and critical HVAC systems with strong communication and leadership skills. This role can be based in Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ or Las Vegas, NV.
This position will require up to 50% travel.
Job Duties:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the commissioning department and clients, vendors, and contractors during all phases of the commissioning process.
- Attend and lead client and vendor meetings to communicate the commissioning strategy, process updates, timelines, and deliverables.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on all aspects of the commissioning process, providing guidance, clarification, and expertise on systems commissioning, standards, and best practices.
- Oversee the development and delivery of commissioning plans, schedules, and documentation, ensuring alignment with client needs and project goals.
- Coordinate commissioning activities across internal teams, ensuring that the commissioning schedule integrates seamlessly with the overall project timeline.
- Work closely with commissioning managers and engineers to ensure proper execution of commissioning processes and ensure that any issues or concerns raised by clients or vendors are addressed.
- Review and approve commissioning procedures, test plans, and reports to ensure they meet both company standards and client requirements.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to manage expectations, address concerns, and provide progress updates on commissioning activities.
- Support the commissioning team by providing strategic insights and leadership to help resolve any roadblocks or technical challenges during project execution.
- Ensure that commissioning deliverables are completed on time and within budget, working closely with project managers to maintain alignment with the overall project objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred, though consideration will be given to other engineering disciplines, military training, or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in data centers or large-scale construction projects, with at least 3 years in a project management or client-facing role.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning processes for power generation and distribution systems, HVAC, UPS, PDUs, and related mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with project management tools and practices, along with proficiency in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
- Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or similar certifications are a plus.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and client expectations simultaneously.
- Comfortable representing the company in client and vendor meetings, providing strategic oversight, and collaborating with internal technical teams to ensure successful commissioning outcomes.
Benefits:
All full-time employees receive a comprehensive benefit package that includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% of medical premiums covered by the employer, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, a profit-sharing plan, vacation time, paid holidays off, and a target yearly performance-based bonus of 10% of your annual base salary.
