The City of Ormond Beach is now accepting applications for Summer Camp Counselors. There are three different camps for which you can be considered:
SUMMER CAMP CONNECTION AT SOUTH ORMOND NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER
Summer Camp Connection will be held at the South Ormond Neighborhood Center June 7 - August 1, 2025. Counselors will work 40+ hours per week Monday - Friday from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM (shifts are staggered). Orientation will be held on June 7th. The hourly rate of pay is $15.00 for camp counselors and $15.50 for the lead camp counselor.
Counselors are responsible for following lessons plans, leading recreational activities, assisting and/or adapting activities, and continuous supervision of all campers. These positions require direct, active involvement in sports events, running games, swimming-oriented activities, arts and crafts, and assisting with the daily needs of campers. Outdoor activities can include exposure to hazardous weather, vegetation, and wildlife.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (no one under the age of 18 need apply). Drug screening, fingerprinting, and a DCF criminal background check will be conducted. CPR/First aid certification must be obtained prior to hiring and will be provided at no charge if necessary. It is mandatory that in an emergency situation, each applicant be able to remove a child, a minimum of thirty pounds, from a dangerous situation.
SPECIAL POPULATIONS CAMP AT NOVA COMMUNITY CENTER
The Special Populations Camp (Camp T-Rec) will be held at the Nova Community Center. Counselors will work June 11 - August 6, 2025, 35+ hours per week Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (shifts are staggered). Orientation will be held on June 7th. The hourly rate of pay is $15.00 for camp counselors and $15.50 for the lead camp counselor.
Responsible for writing lessons plans, leading recreational activities, assisting and/or adapting activities, meeting the daily needs, and continuous supervision of all campers. Experience in working with children with physical, cognitive, mental, emotional and/or developmental needs is helpful but not required. Outdoor activities can include exposure to hazardous weather, vegetation, and wildlife. Select employees will be required to attend training prior to camp and be available for pre- and post-program set up and closing requirements.

ENVIRO CAMP AT ENVIRONMENTAL DISCOVERY CENTER
The Enviro Camp will be held at the Environmental Discovery Center June 2 - August 1, 2025. The lead counselor will begin the week prior. Counselors will work 40 hours per week Monday - Friday with camp hours running from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Orientation will be held on June 7th. The hourly rate of pay is $15.00 for camp counselors and $15.50 for the lead camp counselor.
Counselors are responsible for following lessons plans, leading recreational activities, assisting and/or adapting activities, and continuous supervision of all campers. These positions require direct, active involvement in outdoor activities with children including, but not limited to: swimming, hiking, canoeing, archery, fishing and chaperoning field trips. Outdoor activities can include exposure to hazardous weather, vegetation, and wildlife.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (no one under the age of 18 need apply). Drug screening, fingerprinting, and a DCF criminal background check will be conducted. CPR/First aid certification must be obtained prior to hiring and will be provided at no charge if necessary. It is mandatory that in an emergency situation, each applicant be able to remove a child, a minimum of thirty pounds, from a dangerous situation. Candidates must have experience working with children, enjoy working and playing outdoors, have knowledge of Florida native plants and animals, and enjoy craft projects.
