Key Responsibilities of Emergency Room RN:

  • Assess patients' conditions and injuries upon arrival to the emergency department.
  • Utilize strong attention to detail and communication skills to relay findings to physicians.
  • Implement treatment plans, administer IVs, medications, and injections, and conduct EKGs.
  • Educate patients and their families about home treatment before discharge.
  • Stay informed on hospital discharge policies and government regulations regarding patient treatment.
  • Maintain composure while working long shifts in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of recent experience in an emergency department setting.
  • Valid nursing license as required by the specific state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA preferred and may be required.
  • Specialty-related certifications are favored and may be necessary.
  • Professional references are required.
