Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: 2 years of experience
License: Active ND or Compact RN license
Certifications: BLS (Must be American Heart Association)
Must-Have: Willingness to float to other Med Surg Units

Job Description:

- Work in the Rapid Evaluation Unit, handling various medical-surgical duties.
- Responsible for patients requiring observation such as chest pains, abdominal pains, hysterectomies, knee scopes, adult tonsillectomies, appendectomies, hernias, and infusion patients needing blood or antibiotics.
- Manage a high turnover of patients daily, with approximately 12 admissions and 10 discharges in a 12-hour shift.
- Maintain organization to handle the rapid pace in the unit.
- Utilize equipment such as EPIC EMR, Acu-dose for narcotic dispensing, and medication scanning.
- Perform tasks including IV starts, dressing changes, pre and post-op care, and handling catheters.
- Participate in a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 across 24 beds.
- Adhere to the dress code by wearing all dark navy blue scrubs.
- Engage in a robust training and orientation program, which includes 2-3 12-hour shifts with a preceptor and classroom training for the charting system.
- Work in collaboration with team members, never alone, and integrated into the same floating rotation as permanent staff.
- Work every other weekend and every other holiday.
