This employee will perform as a bus driver, safely transporting student from home to school to home, on field trips and perform a variety of clerical duties associated with Transportation operations.
Job Summary:
- maintain route schedule
- supervise students who ride the bus; maintain discipline and report undisciplined students to the principal/s
- discharge students only at authorized stops and transport only authorized students
- assist student passengers with school baggage as needed
- regulate heating and ventilating systems for passenger comfort
- comply with local traffic regulations and observe all mandatory safety regulations
- report delays or accidents
- clean the interior of the bus regularly
- inspect bus and check gas, oil, water, brakes, etc., before departure and report any needed repairs
Qualifications:
- general knowledge of routine maintenance requirements of buses
- ability to work independently with minimum supervisions on the job and route are learned
- be at least 18 years of age with at least six (6) months driving experience with a valid operator's license
- possess a valid driver's license
- have or obtain the required Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "P" and "S" endorsements
- have no STOP entry appearing on driving record
- have and maintain a good driving record
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to site; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; use feet and legs to operate vehicle pedals; drive/ride the vehicle; and talk or hear. The employee must have full range of vision. On occasion the employee is required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste or smell.
