POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Planning, the Data Specialist/Analyst (SIP) will collect, analyze, synthesize and present institutional data related to enrollment, retention, success, and other factors that impact grant funding and reporting requirements for both internal and external audiences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Holistic Student Support
- Collaborate with campus academic leadership and functional solutions team to develop and/or implement technological tools that support the goals and objectives of the Academic Success Center.
- Monitor student success outcomes and metrics using methodology aligned with institutional goals and the grant.
- Support the enhancement of technology that integrates and monitors student communication and degree/career pathways.
- Assure the integrity of project data, including data extraction, storage, manipulation, processing, visualization and analysis.
- Design, maintain, and manipulate queries for specialized databases and information systems to meet the information needs of the institutional goals and the grant.
- Create visualizations and write reports interpreting institutional grant-related data.
- As needed, build dashboards of actionable information using a variety of data visualization tools to illustrate trends and to summarize insights for continuous improvement planning.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures related to educational experiences.
- Foster collaboration among faculty and staff encouraging the exchange of ideas supported by data, that best promotes student success.
- Embrace and promote the College's goals utilizing inclusive best practices to provide support to students, staff, faculty, and other constituents.
- Associate's degree is required in field related or relevant to data analysis, institutional research, assessment and evaluation; Knowledge of statistical methodologies and techniques preferred.
- Two (2) years or more experience in higher education including collecting data from multiple sources to create visualizations and write reports is required.
- Experience developing and administering databases and linking technological databases to illustrate trends is preferred.
- Experience with software that aggregates a variety of data, experience with pulling data and reports from Banner database creation and management is preferred.
- Experience using software applications currently in use in the division: Rapid Insight, SQL, Argos, Microsoft Office Suite and/or Power BI, is preferred. Demonstrating a proven aptitude for learning new skills and software applications considered.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skill strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to work with faculty, staff and administrators to determine the appropriate data to answer pertinent educational research questions.
- Must be flexible, pleasant, and able to deal with changing and multiple priorities, frequent interruptions and a wide variety of personalities, both work teams and clients.
