Job Summary: The X-Ray Technician is responsible for operating or overseeing the operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images of the body. The role involves preparing patients for radiological procedures and ensuring compliance with safety regulations to protect both patients and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Identify patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and other relevant individuals.
  • Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatments, and answering questions.
  • Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting equipment controls for optimal exposure.
  • Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff by employing radiation protection techniques, utilizing beam restrictive devices, and ensuring proper patient shielding.
  • Adhere to established infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the quality of radiographs by following established standards, processing images, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Document patient care services by accurately charting in patient and department records, including exam completion and verification.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of radiology equipment by performing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and arranging for repairs.
  • Manage radiology supplies inventory by monitoring stock levels and anticipating needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Stay current with professional and technical knowledge by fulfilling regulatory CME requirements, attending workshops, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Complete yearly Age Specific Competency requirements.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Education & Licensing Requirements:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • New York State License (L.R.T) required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required.
