YCS employees are devoted professionals who have a passion for helping children, adolescents and adults. Art Therapist will provide art therapy services for clients/students that will assist them with developmental needs, emotional, behavioral and psychiatric issues in residential programs for youth. The Art Therapist works together with the multi-disciplinary team to help each child fulfill his/her fullest potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead therapeutic groups which allows clients to expresses themselves through art in a safe environment.
- Assesses individual residents/students with respect to their status, abilities, interests and needs.
- Responsible for weekly progress notes and reporting the residents/students progress.
- Assess the status of each resident to determine safety needs and makes individual appropriate accommodations when needed.
- Develops cooperative relationships with all members of the multiple –disciplinary team.
- Assists children in building self-esteem, and problem-solving as well as giving him/her the opportunity to express him/herself through art.
- Masters degree from an accredited Art Therapy program
- Licensed NJ social worker (LSW, LCSW, LAC, or LPC)
- Completion of a pediatric/psycho-social internship or one year experience as art therapist
- ATR Certification Preferred
