Aircraft Assembly Mechanic

Job Summary

An aircraft assembly mechanic puts together and installs free fabricated aircraft parts to manufacture fixed wing aircraft or aircraft sub-assemblies according to detailed engineering specifications. The Aircraft Assembler must read and interpret aircraft assembly diagram; then The Aircraft Assembler must assemble and fit prefabricated parts to form sub- assemblies, working at benches or directly on an aircraft structure. The Aircraft Assembler assembles fits and installs prefabricated parts and sub - assemblies such as aircraft skins, flight controls, reading, hydraulics and other mechanical systems.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain the shop in a clean and organized manner
  • The Aircraft Assembler puts together and installs prefabricated aircraft parts.
  • The Aircraft Assembler must be capable of following detailed engineering specifications.
  • The Aircraft Assembler inspects each job upon completion to make sure that it is completed in accordance to specifications.
  • Performs assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Performs routine support equipment inspections and maintains and performs necessary corrective actions to include unscheduled maintenance
  • Operates assigned aerospace ground support equipment as required.
  • Selects appropriate tools and equipment required to complete assignments
  • Complies with all company, OSHA and customer safety regulations
  • Follows all safety procedures and practices as established by the Company
  • Repairs, reworks and replace components or parts to ensure proper operation
  • Assure that all required forms and documents are properly filled in and signed after maintenance work completion

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to understand aircraft work instructions, maintenance manuals, and any other aircraft related documentation
Requirements
  • Must have own tools
  • Ability to remain calm, cool, and collected in stressful situations
  • Ability to be patient and objective in difficult situations with different types of people
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Three to five years' experience in aircraft assembly preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and understand the English language and to follow verbal and written instruction
