Description
Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing the employee lifecycle from onboarding through termination of employment. This includes shared responsibilities between the other Generalists and, at times, the HR Director. It is essential for good business function that the HR Generalist works collaboratively with the department but maintains a level of independence in task completion and project management.
To define the different areas of focus more clearly, the HR Generalist will focus primarily on staffing and recruitment, personnel data management, student coordination, health insurance, worker's compensation, retirement plan, and the wellness program.
Position Requirements:
1. Staffing and Recruitment
a. Prepares and coordinates job announcements in HRIS system and advertises as needed
b. Schedules applicant interviews per the managers' request
c. Coordinates applicant pre-hire including paperwork, drug testing, background checks, and
references
d. Initiates and completes HRIS onboarding requirements
e. Respond to requests concerning job openings
f. Facilitates internal employee applications
g. Distributes candidate rejection emails
h. Sends electronic notifications for orientation
i. Collects and reviews new hire compliance records such as immunizations, licenses, and
certifications
2. Physician Recruitment and Onboarding
a. Post and update postings on physician job openings
b. Identify methods to attract physician talent
c. Coordinates onboarding with management and other involved parties
3. Personnel Data Management
a. Inputs status changes into HRIS system
b. Inputs or verifies accurate input of merit and pay increases into database
c. Utilizes personnel data to complete government surveys
d. Assists staff with requests for personnel information
e. Responds to unemployment requests
4. Student Coordination
a. Contacts department managers to get approval for preceptors and conducts preceptor
orientation
b. Communicates preceptor requirements to program coordinator
c. Maintains student records through completion of rotations
d. Provides information/updates to instructors as needed
e. Provides promotional information to schools regarding career opportunities
5. Health Insurance
a. Administers employee benefits in compliance with carrier contracts
b. Conducts bi-weekly new employee benefit in-service to review all clinic benefits
c. Processes employee and physician enrollment/change requests for insurance benefits
d. Verifies benefit and insurance eligibility
e. Administers FMLA for employees and physicians
f. Administers COBRA for employees and physicians
6. Workers Compensation
a. Coordinates Worker's Compensation claims for employees and physicians
b. Assists in the prompt delivery of medical services and the return of injured workers to safe and
productive employment
c. Assures compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations
7. Retirement Plan
a. Coordinates employee Retirement Plan Meetings
b. Schedules physicians to meet with First Citizen's representatives
c. Provides guidance to employees on system usage including loans, withdrawals, and changes
8. Employee Performance and Discipline
a. Assists in resolving conflicts and workplace complaints
b. Guide managers towards decisions that foster a healthy work environment
c. Assist in investigations and disciplinary actions for routine disputes
9. General Administrative Duties
a. Attends team meetings and assists in tasks to maintain an environment of teamwork
b. Responds timely to service requests
c. Serves on project teams to improve organizational performance
d. Other duties as assigned
The HR Generalist will perform services that may require Pinehurst Surgical Clinic to disclose confidential and proprietary information. The HR Generalist will hold the confidential information in strict confidence, will exercise a reasonable degree of care to prevent disclosures to others, will not disclose or divulge either directly or indirectly the confidential information to others unless first authorized to do so in writing by management, will not reproduce the confidential information nor use this information commercially or for any purpose other than the performance of their duties for Pinehurst Surgical Clinic, and will, upon request or upon termination of their relationship with Pinehurst Surgical Clinic, deliver to Pinehurst Surgical Clinic any notes, documents, equipment, and materials received from Pinehurst Surgical Clinic or originating from employment with Pinehurst Surgical Clinic.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in human resources or business, or equivalent experience required; bachelor's degree in human resources preferred
- Two to four years' experience in benefits, preferably in healthcare
- Skilled with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Familiar with Adobe
- Knowledge of benefit terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Maintains confidentiality
- Tactful and mature; projects a positive attitude and self-image
- Service and detail-oriented
- Comprehends technical information
- Works in a team environment in a wide variety of circumstances
- Ability to prioritize/reprioritize and work independently
- Sound judgement and character
