We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Controller. The Controller will oversee the financial and accounting operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role is responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Controller will manage banking relationships, payroll, and financial systems, while working closely with leadership to drive financial performance and support business growth. This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of financial management, compliance, and process optimization. The ideal candidate will be proactive, collaborative, and committed to supporting the company's financial health and long-term success.

Requirements

Financial Management & Reporting:

• Oversee all aspects of accounting and financial operations.

• Close month-end books, including reviewing and finalizing ensuring accurate financial reporting.

• Prepare financial schedules and reports using Synoptix and other financial tools.

• Conduct variance analysis on high and low-profit jobs to identify trends and insights.

• Issue financial statements and provide summary reports to management.

• Manage annual reviews with CPA firms, including coordinating schedules and documentation.

• Work with CPA firms on tax schedules, quarterly tax estimates, and tax notices.

Payroll, Benefits & Compliance:

• Manage and oversee payroll processes and resolve payroll-related issues.

• Work with investment company for annual 401(k) testing, audits, and compliance filings (Form 5500).

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax requirements.

• Maintain Workers' Compensation and General Liability insurance estimates and policies.

• Oversee ISNetworld compliance, ensuring up-to-date insurance certificates, questionnaires, and safety policies.

Banking & Treasury Management:

• Manage banking relationships, including interactions with Bank.

• Execute ACH and wire transfers while monitoring positive pay exceptions.

• Oversee financial planning and cash flow management.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Develop and manage annual budgets, including departmental financial planning.

• Work with department heads on budget strategies, cost management, and pricing updates.

• Load and maintain budgets within Synoptix and coordinate with software vendors for updates and troubleshooting.

Inventory & Cost Control:

• Oversee bi-annual inventory processes (June & December) in collaboration with operational teams.

• Work with project management teams on revenue recognition and cost allocations.

• Manage pricing updates for estimating spreadsheets and ensure accuracy in project costing.

Technology & Process Improvement:

• Work with IT to develop and refine financial reporting systems, including SQL and SSRS reporting.

• Assist departments in understanding system modifications and their impact on reporting structures.

• Drive process improvements and automation for increased efficiency.

Ad Hoc Analysis & Strategic Initiatives:

• Perform financial analyses on job costing, pricing, sales, equipment performance, payroll, and operational efficiencies.

• Provide insights and recommendations to leadership based on financial trends.

• Support owners and executives with financial and operational queries as needed.

• Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting software, and SQL-based reporting.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or CPA preferred).

• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in engineering, construction, or manufacturing.

• Experience in project-based accounting and job costing.

• Strong knowledge of financial compliance, and internal controls.

• Prior leadership experience managing an accounting/finance team.

• CPA or CMA preferred.
