Our MetaSim Real Data Acquisition team creates ground truth datasets for training and validation of CV/ML algorithms for Augmented and Mixed Reality, and the Quest Presence Platform. We collaborate across Reality Labs with the best engineers in the industry, innovating cutting edge technology and are enabling the future of AR / MR devices and experiences.To do this we need to create rich digital twins of thousands of real world spaces, including both geometric and semantic information about both static and dynamic parts of environments. In this role we are looking for someone to help us take the next step function improvement in our representation, moving to radiance field representations of scenes, allowing us to better represent novel camera viewpoints and dynamic scenes. The impact of this will be very high, as it will fundamentally improve the way we capture and represent scenes.

Required Skills:

Computer Vision Engineer - MetaSim Responsibilities:

  1. Design new computer vision solutions or bring existing ideas to production with scale, reliability, and performance in mind.

  2. Strong engineering craft including writing well-organized code, proper testing and documentation, and building on top of existing code or building new solutions from scratch as needed.

  3. Complete medium to large computer vision features spanning multiple tasks independently with limited guidance from senior engineering leads.

  4. Take ownership of the assigned codebase or identify and drive quality improvements as needed.

  5. Develop strong and collaborative relationships with other engineers and researchers on the team and collaborate with cross functional and partner teams.

  6. Leverage a variety of CV approaches as appropriate for the problem at hand - multi-view geometric and ML view synthesis, NeRFs, Gaussian Splatting, etc

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  2. Track record of delivering research into production, driving algorithmic changes towards on-device optimization

  3. Experience developing computer vision and/or 3D Reconstruction algorithms

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with graphics systems including rendering and performance optimization.

  2. Experience working with multi camera systems to perform depth estimation and room layout

  3. Experience with AR/MR/VR development.

  4. Experience with 3D reconstruction including structure-from-motion, pose estimation, feature detection, and tracking.

Public Compensation:

$56.25/hour to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
